Humanitarian Project Coordinator – Education in Emergency

EDUCATION IN EMERGENCIES COORDINATOR RAKINE STATE

Plan is an international humanitarian, child-centred development organisation, implementing programs that promote the realisation and fulfilment of children’s rights and the alleviation of child poverty. Plan Myanmar is planning to expand its work to include an emergency response in Rakhine State and is seeking an Education in Emergencies Coordinator as part of this project. These positions are contingent upon a successful grant award. The positions are based in Sittwe, Rakhine State and will require extensive travel to IDP camps and adjacent communities.

Reports to: Humanitarian Project Manager- Education in Emergencies, Rakhine

Assignment Duration:  6 month with the possibility of extension

Responsibilities

Job purpose:  The Education in Emergency Coordinator (EiE Coordinator) will be responsible for the quality implementation of EiE activities in Rakhine. The EiE Coordinator will work closely with Project Manager and make sure EiE Officers lead field implementation of EiE related activities effectively. He/She has to work with other team members in order to provide conflict sensitive and harmonized implementation in Rakhine. Other aspects of the role include assessment, design and planning, result based M&E and representation at regional and local level education sector. Implementation of Plan’s programmes will be done inclusively through the involvement of community representatives. The EiE Coordinator will manage EiE project officers to provide capacity-building for staff, and ensure the effective inclusion of vulnerable groups at all stages of the project’s implementation.

Requirements

Qualifications, Skills & Experience: Minimum three years of proven experience working in education in emergencies projects or programmes • Strong experience in formal or non-formal education in Myanmar • Experience using result-based monitoring and evaluation • Strong experience and knowledge of Do No Harm and conflict sensitivity approaches • Demonstrated understanding of the humanitarian emergency operating context including Sphere, the humanitarian system, security and program management • Academic degree in education or other relevant area is asset • Good English language skills both written and oral. • Strong team-building and facilitation skills • Myanmar citizen.
