Job Description:

We are seeking Preschool Teachers to work in our school to teach small children who are between 2 to 5 years old. Teachers will be expected to incorporate lessons through songs, teaching child development basics such as speech and language, identifying colours, numbers, shapes and letters, fine and gross motor skills, and social skills.

Ultimately, the goal of each preschool teacher will be to teach students all the skills they need to be successful in later schooling and in life.

Job Responsibilities:

Our Preschool Teachers will:

·         Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate and use both in learning activities and in imaginative play.

·         Attend to children's basic needs by feeding them, dressing them, and changing their diapers.

·         Teach basic skills such as colour, shape, number and letter recognition, personal hygiene, and social skills.

·         Establish and enforce rules for behaviour, and procedures for maintaining order.
Read books to entire classes or to small groups.

·         Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, storytelling, and field trips.

·         Observe and evaluate children's performance, behaviour, social development, and physical health.

·         Identify children showing signs of emotional, developmental, or health-related problems, and discuss them with supervisors, parents or guardians, and child development specialists.

·         Keep records of the students’ progress, routines, and interests by preparing reports on students as required by administration.

·         Meet with parents and guardians to discuss their children's progress and needs, determine their priorities for their children, and suggest ways that they can promote learning and development.

Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the school to develop, evaluate, and revise preschool programs

Education/Experience:

·         Must hold a Bachelors Degree (BA) from a university

·         Having experience as a teacher is a plus, but not necessary as long as you possess the necessary skills and qualities outlined below.

Skills and Qualities:

·         English Language- Must have strong command of the English language.

·         Love of Teaching- Must demonstrate a strong desire to teach in order to make a positive difference in a child’s life.

·         Communication skills- Preschool teachers need good communication skills to tell parents and colleagues about students’ progress. They must also be able to communicate well with small children.

·         Creativity- Preschool teachers must plan lessons that engage young students. In addition, they need to adapt their lessons to suit different learning styles.

·         Interpersonal skills- Preschool teachers must understand children’s emotional needs and be able to develop good relationships with parents, children, and colleagues.

·         Organizational skills- Preschool teachers need to be organized to plan lessons and keep records of their students.

·         Patience- Young children can be loud, emotional and irrational. Preschool teachers must be patient with young kids who have a tough time expressing themselves and be able to respond calmly to overwhelming and difficult situations.

·         Physical stamina- Working with children can be physically taxing, so preschool teachers should have a lot of energy.
